The People

In Babylon there were three different classes of people; upper class, middle class, and lower class. People like government officials, priests, large land owners, and traders were upper class citizens. Clerks, craftworkers and other skilled workers are all examples of middle class people. The only type of people in the lower class is people like slaves, village farmers, and animal herders.
Upper class people lived in palaces, and the walls were decorated with painted murals. Their bathrooms even had pipes for drainage… WOW!!! Middle class people lived in simple huts made from sun dried mud bricks, but if the owner was somewhat wealthy, they could even have upper stories. And of course lower class people like slaves lived with their owners.
Ordinary people drank beer but rich people drank wine. People in Babylon ate some dairy products but meat was expensive so the poor rarely ate it.
